An unusual yellow trillium in flower at Anderson Prairie Park.
Life Finds a Way

Somehow, out of the frost, come the first wildflowers of spring. Many appear so delicate, it is a wonder they survive at all.

In fact, they must sprout, bloom and set seed before the canopy leafs out and shuts off sunlight to the forest floor. Most retire to dormancy, energy stored in roots until the window of opportunity opens again.
