Prairie Sundrops

(Oenothera pilosella)

Prairie sundrops occur in only one location in Anderson Prairie Park. In fact, that is the only recorded location in all of Christian County.

Preserving remaining populations of native prairie plants is especially important to restorationists, because they can

pattern new prairie plantings after remnants that still exist.

Having a guide or template for future restorations can help insure historical accuracy. Native plant seed is very expensive, so it is especially important that plants reintroduced will have the best chance to survive in local conditions.
