Wild quinine

(Parthenium integrifolium)

Wild quinine was once used to treat fever, and therefore borrows its name from the quinine used to treat related ailments like malaria. The original quinine comes from the bark of the cinchona tree found in South America. This plant is also known as "Feverfew."

Consult mail order outlets if you would like to grow this beautiful prairie plant in your garden.

It is found at the edge of wooded areas along the main trail in Anderson Prairie Park.
