Hoary Puccoon

(Lithospermum canescens)

Hoary puccoon is another early blooming prairie flower that provides a preview of the coming summer display.

It is visible along the last third of the wildflower trail in Anderson Prairie Park in early summer.

Hoary refers to the fine hairs covering the stem. The official definition describes hoary as something very old and ancient, or with white or gray hair.
