Partridge Pea

(Cassia fasciculata)

Partridge Pea is a common prairie plant that is often overshadowed by its showier neighbors, such as compass plant and prairie dock.

It grows a couple of feet high, and has attractive foliage and soft yellow flowers.

Look for partridge pea in numerous places in Anderson Prairie. It is especially easy to find along the wildflower trail, where it grows right next to the boardwalk in late June and early July.
