Goat's Rue

(Tephrosia virginiana)

This member of the pea family has unusual flower petals. The top petals reflex back away from the pink bottom petal. This specimen is just coming into bloom in early summer. It occurs towards the southern end of Anderson Prairie Park. Look for it along the main trail and in a small prairie clearing near the south boundary.
