Culver's root

(Veronicastrum virginicum)

This striking, symmetrical plant is easily found along the wildflower trail. Look for the neatly arranged tapering flower stalks.

Many prairie plants where used by early settlers and Native Americans for their medicinal value, either real or perceived.

Culver's root was one such plant as its roots were throught to aid liver problems and constipation.
