Coral Hairstreak

(Strymon titus )

Coral hairstreaks, like many other butterflies, love the bright orange blossoms of butterfly mikweed (Asclepias tuberosa).

In fact, sometimes several coral hairstreaks can be seen visiting the same plant at one time.

Butterfly gardeners should note the popularity of this plant, but be aware that it will not handle too much watering. Water the transplants and then leave them alone.

Native plants don't require the the extra water as do exotic species.
