Blue-eyed Grass

(Sisyrinchium albidum)

 

This is the white form of blue-eyed grass. The other species, Sisyrinchium augustifolium, is also present in Anderson Prairie Park. 

Blue-eyed grass is one of a number of small flowering plants

that bloom in early summer before the tall grasses and prairie giants, such as compass plant, take over the landscape.

Blue-eyed grass is a member of the iris family.
